Volunteer Peru, My going away party at the orphanage was so lovely. The girls prepared a big poster with me and some made small gifts for me. I brought a cake, cookies, chips and sodas. The leader of the program did a little speech and then some of the girls talked.

I was nervous going in as I’m sure everyone is, but Maria Elena made me feel right at home. I worked at a kindergarten at first but the teachers went on strike so I have been working at the local Zoo which I am enjoying even more. If you are on the edge about signing up I have to say this was amazing and I think it is something everyone should try. Give it a shot you will nots regret it.

I had a great time here in Cusco, seeing the sights, learning the history, meeting people and learning of their culture, and working with the excited children at the kindergarten. I was rather unlucky however, as I got stress sick and stayed sick for most of the time in country.
